WIG CAPS

What are the different types of wig caps?

No one wig style is the same. This is why we at Destiny and Beyond put a personal touch on every product. Just as no wig is the same, neither are wig caps. There are 4 different wig cap types:

Monofilament Wig, 100% Hand-Tied, Lace-Front Cap, and Basic Cap. Each wig cap is constructed based on the type and style of hair.

Wig Types

100% Hand-TiedMonofilamentLace FrontBasic Cap
Offers natural movement, so that each hair moves freely

Each hair piece is hand-tied onto the base of the entire cap

It’s soft and the most comfortable   Ideal for those with very sensitive scalps and hair loss   Other names: 100% hand-knotted
Offers the illusion of a natural front hairline   Individual hairs are hand-tied to sections of sheer base

Can be found just at the crown with a part or across the full top

A full mono top allows for styling versatility

A double mono has an extra layer of soft material for added comfort
Creates a natural looking front hairline
Individual hairs are hand-tied to sections of sheer base

Allows for styling away from the face
Can include both traditional and capless styles

Majority or all of this cap has open wefting. This is typically done for better air ventilation

Can give hair a natural lift with volume   Pre-teased wig hair at the root. This helps mask the appearance of the cap

WIG CARE

How Long Can I Expect My Wigs to Last?

Depending on the wig brand, material, proper care, maintenance you can expect that a wig worn daily can last anywhere between 6-9 months…possibly even longer. How long your wig will last is dependent on the care that you provide. In this article, we will provide tips so that you can keep your hair in good health and stay looking good.

Another factor that determines the length of time that your wig/ hairpiece can last are the materials used to create the wig. This includes the base materials and tips of the fibers. Luckily here at Destiny and Beyond (D&B), we focus on quality, so this is never a question with our products.

A human hair wig or hair extension that is worn daily can generally last from 6-9 months. This is again dependent on the care. We at D&B recommend that avid wig users have multiple wigs. For example, you may have a workout wig, that you only wear to the gym. You may also have a church wig, that you only wear to church. Then you may have a business wig or a party wig. The point is wigs can be your favorite accessory and can last. Treat your wig as if it grows out of your head.

Wig Care

There are shampoos that are great on both the human hair and synthetic wigs. You should however be very careful when using popular shampoos. Many normal shampoos have parabens and sulfates that strip wigs of their natural luster and shine. After multiple uses, your wig will become tangled and hard to comb. We recommend that you always read the label and stray from any shampoos or products that include Parabens or Sulphate. Overall some wigs can last up to a year or more with proper care and maintenance.

More Tips

+ Comb throughly before shampooing

+ Shampoo in cold water to prevent tangling

+ Soak unit in a bag of conditioner for 2 days for full rejuvenation and softness
